William Amponsah is the 2022 Men’s National Cross Country champion

William Amponsah emerged as the winner in the men’s category of the 2022 National Cross Country held in Akim Oda.

The 24-year-old, who represented the Central Region, clocked 28:16:71 to finish ahead of 91 other competitors in Saturday morning’s race.

The competition is an initiative of the National Sports Authority and its main objective is to select a standing national team to compete in the 13th African Games.

This year’s competition forms part of a series of qualification events to select Team Ghana for Accra 2023.

Koogo Atia from the North East Region placed second with a time of 29:25:61.

While Aziz Mohammed from the Central Region with Bib number 042 finished third with a time of 29:47:95.

Meanwhile, David Nakouise of the Upper West Region rounded up the first four with a time of 29:54:29.
