Referee Laud Nettey used VAR to decline a penalty protest by Cowlane

Referee Laud Nettey was called to VAR duties in the African Games Zongo Football Competition fixture between Fadama and Cowlane.

In the 48th minute, Cowlane players staged a fierce protest following an inside the Fadama inbox.

In their protest, they claimed a Fadama player handled the ball inside the box.

Eventually, referee Nettey had to consult the monitor on the pitchside to review the incident.

After the review, referee Nettey rejected the penalty calls.

It becomes the second time VAR has been used for a major decision in the games.
