Accra New Town celebrating their second goal

Host community Madina succumbed to a 2-1 loss against Accra New Town in the African Games Zongo Football Competition on Saturday afternoon.

For the first time in the competition, center referee Rita Nkansah Boateng was called to VAR duties as she had review a penalty decision.

Aziz Yussif registered the opening goal for Accra New Town when he arrived on time to poke home a spilled ball after the Madina goalkeeper failed to make a first-time save in the 12th minute.

Madina, who are the host community, made a series of attempts to restore parity, but the New Town defence remained strong.

Captain for New Town Bernard Cofie struck home the second goal for his with minutes to end the first half.

David Setor cracked home a fierce effort from inside the area to half the deficit for the host community.

New Town got a golden opportunity to nail the coffin of Madina after referee Rita Nkansah awarded a penalty after doing a VAR incident inside the Madina box.
