The LOC held a successful meeting with the Ghana Immigration Service

Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the 13th African Games – Accra 2023 – has held fruitful discussions with the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS).

Members of the LOC led by Executive Chairman Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare met with the top brass of the permit and visa-granting institution including Mr. Laud Ofori Affrifah who is the Deputy Comptroller-General.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Ofosu-Asare thanked the GIS for the opportunity before explaining the mandate of the LOC to the meeting’s hosts.

As part of its oversight role, the LOC requested from the GIS to assist with visas-on-arrival for athletes and officials who are expected to arrive on the shores of the country for the Games.

Ghana will welcome over 7,000 athletes and officials to the country for the Games.

Mr. Affrifah declared his outfit’s readiness to help with issuing visas on arrival at the airport for athletes, officials, and journalists who will travel to cover the event.

The two parties also explored the possibilities of establishing a Desk at the Kotoka International Airport to facilitate documentation and other paperwork for traveling athletes and officials.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ofosu-Asare also proposed to the GIS to nominate members to serve on the LOC’s Protocol And Security Sub-Committee.

In his closing submission, Mr. Affrifah expressed his outfit’s appreciation to the LOC for the meeting.
