GHANA FENCING ASSOCIATION PAY COURTESY CALL ON THE LOC FOR THE 13TH AFRICAN GAMES.

On Thursday, 26th January 2023, The 7-member Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the hosting of Ghana 2023 Cadet Junior Africa Fencing Championship in Ghana led by its President, Mr. Mohammed Mahadi paid a courtesy call on the Management of the 13th African Games, Accra 2023.

The purpose of the visit was to officially introduce the newly constituted LOC for the hosting of the Fencing Cadet and Junior African Championship in Ghana dubbed “Ghana 2023” and to present the roadmap of activities for the competition which is slated to begin from the 14th to 21st February 2023 at the Trust Emporium, Bukom.

Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare on behalf of the Management of the LOC for the 13th African Games, Accra 2023 welcomed the members of the committee.

The Vice-President of the Ghana Fencing Federation noted that the committee had begun a series of engagements to create awareness and also solicit support to make the competition a memorable one.

The President Mr. Mohammed Mahadi appealed to the leadership of the 13th African Games for support with regards to equipment and logistics needed to host a successful tournament.

The continental tournament is expected to welcome the Fencing Athletes from 20 African countries who will be competing for medals in five different events.

Mr. Mohammed Mahadi was optimistic about Ghana’s best showing following their third position in a similar tournament in Cape Coast, Ghana in 2020.

The Championship will serve as a critical platform for the preparation of the national fencing team to represent the county in 2023 African Games.
