The Executive Chairman of the Local Organising Committee for the 13th African Games, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, has explained the idea behind the African Games Zongo Football Competition.
The African Games Zongo Football Competition will kick off this weekend at the Madina AstroTurf Park.
Eight (8) Muslim communities featuring Maamobi, Sukura, Madina, New Town, Cow Lane, Fadama, Nima, and Tudu will compete for the ultimate.
Speaking to Accra2023ag.com, Dr. Ofosu-Asare explained the essence of staging the competition.
“This is to recognise and celebrate our Muslim and Zongo communities for their outstanding contribution towards the development of sports in Ghana and Africa,” he said.
“It is also to sensitise everybody, particularly the Muslim community about the 13th African Games,” he added.

The competition kicks off on the 11th and 12th of June at the Madina AstroTurf Park.
