Accra 2023 LOC pays courtesy call on First Lady Rebecca Akufo-Addo

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 13th African Games – Accra 2023, paid a courtesy call on the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo on Wednesday, January 25, 2022.

The First Lady expressed her readiness to use her office and influence in Ghana and on the African continent to ensure a successful organisation of the games.

The main objective of the meeting was to brief the First Lady on the mandate of the LOC and how to collaborate with her and her foundation to ensure Ghana hosts the best African games in the Games’ 57-year history. The LOC, led by its Executive Chairman, Dr. Kwaku Ofosu-Asare, also briefed her on the success chalked by the 9-member committee and the plans being rolled out for the games which is slated for August 2023.

Dr. Ofosu-Asare and his committee also impressed upon the First Lady to use her influential office and high-profile personality to galvanise support for the LOC towards a successful organisation of the games.

The LOC also informed the First Lady of their plans to collaborate with her office to empower the youth and women in tandem with the vision of her foundation.

The LOC has previously met with the former President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Agyekum Kufuor as well as the Mayor of Accra Madam Elizabeth Sackey.
